Ivanna Ortiz, the Florida woman accused of firing an AR-15-style rifle at pop superstar Rihanna's Beverly Hills mansion, has been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder.
Appearing in court wearing a light blue jumpsuit with frizzy blonde hair in braids, Ortiz seemed anxious as she faced 14 charges on Tuesday. Her bond was set at $1,875,000, reduced from the original amount, and a protective order was issued for both Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, requiring Ortiz to avoid contact with them and stay away from their residences and associated properties.
During the proceedings, it was disclosed that Ortiz also fired shots at another neighbor's home. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated that Ortiz could potentially receive a life sentence.
Ortiz's charges encompass attempted murder with special allegations, 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm (including special allegations), and three counts of shooting into an inhabited dwelling or vehicle. This was Ortiz's first appearance since her arrest, with her social media accounts displaying peculiar rants and a history of targeting celebrities.
Ortiz was apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder after reportedly firing around 10 shots at Rihanna's Los Angeles residence on Sunday. She was booked into custody with a bail set at a significant $10.2 million. The shooting occurred in broad daylight outside the singer's home, where she resides with A$AP Rocky and their children, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Following the shooting, Ortiz fled the scene but was stopped three miles away in Sherman Oaks during a traffic stop. Authorities later recovered an assault-style rifle from a vehicle linked to Ortiz. The incident caused alarm in the typically serene celebrity neighborhood, known for its opulent estates and stringent security measures.
Additional details emerged as social media posts attributed to Ortiz surfaced. In YouTube videos, Ortiz made bizarre allegations against Rihanna, accusing her of theft, jealousy, and likening her to a witch with a devilish appearance. Court records revealed Ortiz's prior fixation on another pop star, Billie Eilish, leading to a lawsuit over noise and traffic concerns at one of Eilish's concerts.
Despite Ortiz's legal actions, the judge dismissed the lawsuit, allowing the concert to proceed without disruption. The emergency petition for a temporary injunction, filed prematurely due to apprehensions about potential disturbances, was ultimately rejected.
