Illinois father Dan Davis, who went missing after a car crash and refused medical treatment before disappearing, has been found dead more than three months later. His body was discovered on Monday around 3 p.m. in a wooded area near train tracks on the outskirts of Blue Island, a suburb of Chicago, as confirmed by the Chicago Police Department.
Daniel “Dan” Davis, aged 59, was last seen on November 26, 2025. His cause of death is currently being investigated.
His daughter, Wendy Davis, expressed relief that her family's search for her father, which lasted "three and a half months of agony," has come to an end. In a poignant Facebook post on Tuesday, she described the discovery of her father's remains as the conclusion of a prolonged period of uncertainty.
Witnesses reported seeing Davis wandering near the entertainment complex where he worked at a bar around 1:15 a.m. on November 25. Earlier, he had been in a car crash but had declined medical assistance. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office stated that there were no signs of impairment or injury when he was evaluated by paramedics following the crash.
After the accident, Davis was given a ride to his workplace around 12:30 a.m. due to his car being inoperable. Home security footage later captured him appearing disoriented as he walked through the Chicago suburbs and left a local church at 6:30 p.m. on November 26.
Wendy Davis noted concerning behaviors in the footage, including her father's drooping face, stumbling over a curb, and wearing his sweatshirt inside out. She mentioned that prior to the crash, Davis had attempted to enter neighbors' homes, leading to concerns that he may have experienced a medical episode.
Following the discovery of her father's body, Wendy expressed gratitude to law enforcement and the community for their support during the search. She reflected on the bond with her father, describing him as her “smarter, goofier, and relentlessly selfless other half.” Wendy concluded her post by acknowledging the outpouring of love for her father and expressing anticipation for the day when she can laugh with him again.
