Initial images show attack that destroyed Iran's military storage on key oil island

The military has unveiled the initial images of a significant overnight strike that decimated a crucial stronghold in Iran's oil network.

US missiles struck numerous military targets on Kharg Island, triggering massive explosions that eradicated Iran's missile stockpile. Footage released by the US Central Command depicted the swift succession of bombs hitting the compound in what was described as a "large-scale precision strike."

President Trump described the mission as having "obliterated" targets on Kharg Island. The strike, announced on Friday night, was hailed as the "most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East."

The USCC stated, "Last night, U.S. forces executed a large-scale precision strike on Kharg Island, Iran. The strike destroyed naval mine storage facilities, missile storage bunkers, and multiple other military sites."

Over 90 Iranian military targets on Kharg Island were successfully struck by US forces, with the oil infrastructure left intact.

Kharg Island is crucial as it houses the main terminal for the country's oil exports. The bombing occurred as reports emerged of 2,500 additional Marines and an amphibious assault ship being deployed to the Middle East, following almost two weeks of conflict with the Islamic Republic.

Marine Expeditionary Units specialize in various tasks, including amphibious landings, enhancing embassy security, civilian evacuations, and disaster relief. The deployment does not signify an imminent ground operation.

Although the exact number of US service members in the Middle East remains unclear, the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, one of the region's largest, typically accommodates around 8,000 US troops.
