President Donald Trump has selected Erika Kirk, the widow of the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, to join the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors.
Erika Kirk, who currently serves as the CEO and board chair of Turning Point USA, has been appointed by the president, as listed on the academy's official website. The board is responsible for evaluating various aspects of the academy, including morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, fiscal affairs, and academic methods.
Her late husband, Charlie Kirk, who tragically passed away in September, was previously chosen by President Trump to serve on the board last year. White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales praised the appointment, stating, "President Trump made the perfect choice in appointing Erika Kirk to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors."
Wales highlighted Charlie Kirk's contributions to the board, mentioning his inspiration to future servicemembers and millions worldwide through his Christian faith, commitment to truth, and love for the country. She expressed confidence that Erika Kirk would continue his legacy and serve as a strong advocate for the elite airpower force safeguarding the nation.
Representative August Pfluger from Texas also commended the appointment, emphasizing Erika Kirk's suitability to carry on Charlie's work of motivating the next generation of service members and advancing the academy. Pfluger, who is a graduate of the academy and currently chairs the board, looks forward to collaborating with Erika Kirk to uphold Charlie's legacy.
