18-year-old student charged with groping 12 female classmates in Virginia after entering US as illegal immigrant under Biden administration

An 18-year-old student, Israel Flores Ortiz, who is an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, has been accused of groping 12 female classmates at Fairfax High School in Virginia. Ortiz, who entered the US illegally in 2024, faces nine counts of assault and battery for allegedly approaching the students in crowded hallways and grabbing them between the legs.

According to reports, the incidents occurred inside the school as students were changing classes. Concerned parents revealed that Ortiz's behavior had been ongoing for months, with one mother stating that about a dozen students had reported being assaulted by him.

The parents criticized school officials, particularly Fairfax County Public Schools, for downplaying the situation. They expressed dissatisfaction with the school's response, citing a letter sent by Principal Georgina Aye that described the incidents as the suspect "touching students' buttocks" during transitions in the hallways.

Despite prosecutors not opposing Ortiz's release, a Fairfax County judge denied him bail this week after reviewing surveillance footage and deeming the proposed conditions insufficient to protect the public. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued a detainer to deport Ortiz, but the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office reportedly did not honor it.

In response, an ICE spokesperson criticized sanctuary policies and called for Ortiz's removal from the country to prevent any further victims. Ortiz is facing misdemeanor assault and battery charges, which carry a maximum penalty of one year in jail.
