Trump suggests Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is alive but possibly injured

President Trump has stated that Iran's new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is likely alive but may have sustained injuries during Operation Epic Fury.

In an interview with Fox News Radio host Brian Kilmeade, Trump expressed his belief that Khamenei is alive in some capacity, despite potential damage. Khamenei has not been seen in public or in any new images since assuming leadership following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, took over as supreme leader after his father's death on February 28, 2026. Reports from Iranian sources suggest that he was wounded during an airstrike that killed his father and wife. There are conflicting accounts of the extent of his injuries, with one source claiming he is in a coma, may have lost both legs, and suffered internal injuries, while another source indicated minor injuries such as a fractured foot, bruised eye, and facial lacerations.

In his first statement as supreme leader, Khamenei vowed to retaliate for his father's death and for any Iranian martyrs. Trump commented on the situation, noting that the new leader will need to act on his threats in response to the ongoing military actions.

Trump highlighted the impact of Operation Epic Fury, stating that significant damage has been inflicted on Iran's military capabilities, including the destruction of missiles, drones, and manufacturing facilities. He emphasized the severity of the attacks, comparing them to the intensity of wartime assaults.

The full interview with President Trump is scheduled to be broadcast on Friday at 10 a.m.
