Survey finds late-night hosts predominantly mocked US and allies post-Operation Epic Fury

Late-night hosts predominantly targeted the United States and its allies, rather than Iran and other adversaries, following Operation Epic Fury, according to a recent survey conducted by media watchdog group MRC NewsBusters.

During the first week of the operation, 94% of the jokes delivered by late-night hosts focused on criticizing the U.S. and its allies. The survey analyzed 20 episodes of popular late-night shows such as "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," "The Daily Show," "Late Night with Seth Meyers," and "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" from March 2-5. Out of the 250 jokes made about the conflict in the Middle East, 235 targeted the U.S., Israel, and other Arab nations responding to Iranian attacks.

Seth Meyers led the pack in jokes about the United States, with 52 jokes, while focusing all of them on America. President Trump was the most joked-about individual, with 152 jokes directed at him.

Late-night hosts like Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Fallon included jabs at the U.S. and its allies in their comedic routines following the military mission. The survey results highlight a trend of late-night shows leaning towards left-leaning perspectives in their humor.

In previous data shared by NewsBusters in December, it was revealed that a significant majority of jokes by these hosts targeted the right, with liberal guests outnumbering conservative ones by a large margin.
