A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a victim in San Francisco's Chinatown in an unprovoked attack, prosecutors announced on Monday.
Jian Feng Huang, 37, is accused of carrying out the brazen assault on March 5 near Stockton and Sacramento streets, leaving the victim wounded on the ground. Police responding to the incident found the victim with a stab wound, while witnesses described how Huang approached the victim from behind, stabbed him, and fled the scene. The attack took place as the victim was waiting to cross the street.
Surveillance footage from nearby businesses supported witness statements, showing Huang attacking the victim without any prior interaction. It was revealed that the victim and the suspect knew each other.
Huang is facing charges of attempted murder, with allegations of using a deadly weapon and causing serious bodily harm to the victim. San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins confirmed that Huang is in custody without bail, with the victim hospitalized due to severe injuries.
Huang is set to appear in court for arraignment at the Hall of Justice on Tuesday morning.
