Callista Gingrich sparks social media buzz with selfie filters next to unedited Newt

Social media was abuzz over a selfie posted by Callista Gingrich, which showed her looking noticeably smoothed and beautified next to her husband, Newt Gingrich, who appeared unedited.

Callista, 60, shared the smiling birthday-weekend selfie on social media on Saturday, taken in St. Moritz, a resort town in Switzerland, where the couple was celebrating her birthday.

The stark contrast between Callista's glamorized appearance and her husband's natural, unfiltered look in the photo sparked amusement among internet users.

One user commented, "I love the way Newt’s face is presented raw and unfiltered while hers is always processed." Another quipped, "What if she actually just looks like that."

The couple, who have been married since 2000, have previously posted similar selfies, with Callista appearing to use filters while Newt maintains a natural look.

Influencer Caleb Hull expressed frustration, saying, "SOMEONE PLEASE STOP HER FROM EDITING PHOTOS." Allie Voss, communications director for the American Conservation Coalition, humorously compared the situation to "PS5 vs PS3."

Callista, who has been serving as the US ambassador to Switzerland since last October, celebrated her birthday during a weekend getaway with her husband. She previously served as the US Ambassador to the Vatican during the first Trump administration.

Trump, a close ally of Newt, announced Callista's appointment as ambassador shortly after his 2024 election victory, praising her work in advancing international religious freedom and combating human trafficking during her tenure at the Holy See.
