Trump declares US ahead of schedule in Iran conflict, calling progress 'very much complete'

President Trump asserted that the conflict with Iran is progressing swiftly, stating that it is "very complete" and "far ahead of schedule." He also mentioned the possibility of the United States taking charge of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical trade route currently under threat by Iran.

Trump praised the success of Operation Epic Fury on Monday, indicating that his initial forecast of a prolonged war may not be necessary. In an interview with CBS news, he highlighted the weakened state of Iran's military, noting their lack of naval, communication, and air force capabilities, along with diminished missile strength.

"We're very far ahead of schedule," Trump remarked regarding the ongoing war, now in its second week. Initially anticipating a four-week duration to achieve America's objectives of dismantling Iran's ballistic missile and nuclear enrichment programs, Trump now suggests a swifter resolution.

During a meeting with Republican lawmakers in Miami, Trump characterized the conflict with Iran as a "short-term excursion," emphasizing the need to confront what he described as "evil." He boasted about the intensity of the attacks on Iran and the significant impact they have had.

In addition to commending the more than 3,000 targeted strikes against Iran, Trump raised the idea of the US assuming control of the Strait of Hormuz, where a substantial portion of global oil supply passes through. With the strait effectively blocked since the onset of the war, Trump warned Iran to ensure unimpeded passage or face severe consequences.

"If they do anything bad, that would be the end of Iran and you'd never hear the name again," Trump cautioned, suggesting potential dire outcomes for Iran if they fail to comply.
